a white dress prison

flowers everywhere 

overwhelming smell of love

or conformity

mirror shows a lie 

reflection of a good wife

i don’t look like me

mint flavor on tongue 

chewing gum to ease my mind

want to run and hide

gentle, romantic 

violin and piano 

tauntingly graceful

breaking my promise 

beady eyes awaiting me

this choice will be mine

make my great escape 

telephone ringing her name 

true love finds a way 

booming footsteps come

panting, huffing, keep running 

taste freedom in reach

soft lace, deathly clutch 

my name, a broken record 

clamor won’t stop me 

i’m wearing her gift

scent of vanilla and rose

getaway in sight
